"You are an angel whose only goal is the protection of your target. Keep your target alive."
Guardian Angel
The Guardian Angel is a Neutral Benign role which is able to protect its target at night.
Mechanics
- The opposite of Executioner and Hitman. You have a target who you have to protect.
- You are given a greatsword and +300 HP at night if you choose to protect your target. You can only protect twice per game.
- You can see your target on top of your screen, similar to how the Mafia and Coven see their teammates.
- When protecting, you will revive your target if they are killed.
- Your sword Stuns players and deals a little damage.
- At the voting Phase, if you chose to protect your target the previous night, your target cannot be voted.
- You will become a Survivor with no vests if your target is killed.
- If the Guardian Angel dies, but their target is alive until the end, they will still win.
- If the target dies but the Guardian Angel lives, they can still win. They will convert into a Survivor, and the winning condition of a Survivor is carried over.
- If your target is Sick, you can Heal them. You can also save your target from being Mutilated.
- You can always win when their target leaves the game.
- A message will appear in Chat if you're being protected by a Guardian Angel saying "(Player Name) is being protected by a Guardian Angel!"
- If you are an Extortionist and you try to extort a protected player, there should be a message saying "A godly force is preventing you from extorting".
Strategy
- If your target is an evil role, do not claim Guardian Angel. This may make the town vote you off for protecting their enemy.
- Since you only have 2 charges, it's best to save them when you know your target is going to die. If you get jailed by Jailor, try not claiming to Jailor, since they might think you're protecting an evil role, try claiming Vigilante, similar to a Medusa strategy and say your target was secretly cleared.
- You could also try claiming Sheriff and saying your target was cleared. Be prepared, though, as you would need to have a will for all nights.
- You should always whisper to your target if they want protection, so you either don't waste a use or so that they're left defenseless.
- Furthermore you can just ask your target for their role, that way you'd always know if they need protection or not.
Trivia
- When you're out of charges but still try to protect your target, you will simply visit them without a sword.
- Your target cannot damage you if you are protecting them.
- You can use the above as an advantage, having high health, you can body-block ranged attacks for your target, without risk of being killed by them accidentally.
- An Ambusher or Werewolf targetting a Guardian Angel while protecting will result in them visiting the Guardian Angels house, and not their targets house.
- If you protect your target when they get jailed, you visit their house while they are in jail. You do not go in the Jailor's house and you do not get teleported inside the jail cell with your target.
- If you get Roleblocked when you're protected, it does not block the voting immunity. This essentially gives you an extra charge to protect your target from being voted.
- Guardian Angel and Pestilence are the only roles who carry their weapon on their back.
- There's a glitch of the Guardian Angel that if they leave the game on the same night they protected their target the target will remain protected forever.
- There is a known glitch where if the target leaves, the Guardian Angel will not change to a Survivor, and can win while dead, despite their target being dead.
- There is a bug where your left-over protections become Survivor vests.
- For example, you use a protect, the other protect turns into a vest. Or if you never protect, the outcome will be 2 vests.
